Janice Cassell has been a member of The Arc for over 25 years and has served on the Board in a variety of capacities. Every person is important to her and she strives to help all members of The Arc to understand how important and valued they are in our community.
Susan joined the ARC Board in 2016. Throughout her teaching career, she has worked with individuals of all ages, abilities, and their families. Her focus has always been:
“What the individual can do and not what they can’t.” Susan enjoys her involvement with organizations such as Special Olympics, Disability Awareness Events, Disability Ministry, Special Camps, and the ARC, which provide opportunities for our “Special Friends to Shine.”
Advocating for children and adults with disabilities is near and dear to Teresa's heart. Her son, Brandon, was diagnosed with disabilities at a very young age. Teresa served as the Hancock County Special Olympics Coordinator from 2008 to 2015. She became a member of the Arc board approximately 14 years ago assisting in different roles as needed. Teresa, her husband Tom, and Brandon enjoy spending time with the "special" individuals they've been so blessed to meet and hope to be able to continue being a part of this special community through The Arc of Hancock County.
Phyllis brings a deep personal connection to her role on the Board as several of her family members have disabilities. She is passionate about being a part of an organization that creates inclusive and loving environments where individuals with disabilities and their families can discover a sense of belonging, personal growth and new friends.
Elizabeth joined our board a few months ago. She is a passionate and dedicated professional in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) with a wealth of experience working with children and individuals with neurodivergent conditions. In 2018, she took a bold step forward and founded E Behavior Solutions LLC, a company, located in Greenfield, dedicated to offering comprehensive ABA services to high-risk children in foster care, individuals with ASD, and those eligible for Medicaid Waiver services.
Casey Garrison just joined the Hancock County Arc in January of this year. She has two kids, an almost 2 and 4 year old! She has 3 family members with disabilities whom are on the Medicaid Waiver and they are they are the reason she started on her advocacy journey!
Janie joined the board after she retired twelve years ago. Professionally, her entire career was in the field of special education and advocacy and support for individuals with disabilities. She provided direct and indirect services to infants through high school age individuals as a teacher or consultant in the public school system in Indiana and Minnesota.
Aubrey is a case manager for the FSW, CIH & ADW Medicaid waivers. Aubrey is passionate about connecting people to inclusive places and events and with necessary resources. She is married to her husband, Garrison, and has one daughter, Emma.
Michael Miller is our newest board member and has been an Employment Consultant for the Community Employment Services
Department of Shares, Inc., a regional non-profit, including Hancock County. His goal is to increase programs and services for individuals with disabilities of all ages. He is a proponent of guided-decision making, self-advocacy, people first philosophies, and life-long learning. He was married to his wife, Susanne, for thirty years. Susanne was legally blind for the last five years of her life. Mike is also the father of Victoria, who has been disabled since birth, twenty-four years ago.
Kimmie joined our board a few months ago and has been involved in developing our new Self-Advocates Group.
